Views include the park’s Zion Canyon and East and West Temple, the Virgin River Valley, Canaan Mountain and the Vermilion Cliffs. Smithsonian Butte, named by explorer John Wesley Powell, rises to 6,632 feet along this designated BLM National Back Country Byway. The ghost town of Grafton, used in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and its nearby pioneer cemetery add interest. Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit.
