The Abert Rim is supposedly the longest exposed normal geologic fault in North America, rising directly above Lake Abert, Oregon’s third largest natural lake. A challenging 4WD route leads to the top. There are no signs and there is a maze of primitive, bumpy dirt tracks with grass in the middle. The final “side road” to the rim overlook is barely a road at all! Make your way from the town of Plush.
